Welcome to my web page!
I wanted to get out a fresh new welcoming home page since my lovely bride, Lisa, and I are off on June 2 to the Galapagos Islands, for what many who've had the experience call the Adventure of a Lifetime. We're going with the INCA cruise folks, flying down to Quito, Ecuador, and then over to the islands, where we'll be spending a lot of time on the yacht Integrity. We're really looking forward to it. But here in the U.S., things keep hopping along. The most immediate item of interest in that last summer's Dismas Hardy/Abe Glitsky novel, A PLAGUE OF SECRETS, comes out in paperback on June 1.
This book, as you may recall, was a New York Times bestseller in hardcover, and garnered some of the warmest praise that any of my books has received, so I'm delighted that it's coming out in paperback now and can reach a much wider audience. And remember, it's just in time for Father's Day!!! (I believe I have mentioned before that books make wonderful gifts.)
Over the past month, I've spent a good deal of my time going over revisions and copy editor notes to next January's novel, the name of which has now been changed from CARNAGE to DAMAGE. I think this is a darn good idea. The cover art has just come in and my main cover art guru at Dutton, Rich Hasselberger, has come up with an absolutely beautiful and brilliant design that captures much of the feel of the book. As I mentioned last time, DAMAGE prominently features Abe Glitsky and Wes Farrell, and is a hard-hitting story that centers around what happens when bad people get let out of jaileither through technicalities in the appeal process or because of prison overcrowding. I pretty much can guarantee that once you pick it up, you won't put it down. It remains high season for anthologies: keep an eye out for the fishing/mystery anthology entitled HOOK, LINE & SINISTER, featuring some of the great names in mysteryMichael Connelly, T. Jefferson Parker, Ridley Pearson, James W. Hall, and many others. My own story, Unsnaggable, is here, too. Also coming up next month is FIRST THRILLS, an anthology put out by the International Thriller Writers organization. Introduced and edited by Lee Child, and with an Afterword by Steve Berry, this volume showcases many fresh new voices in the thriller world, augmented by a stories established folks like Stephen Coonts, Jeffery Deaver, Heather Graham, CJ Lyons, Michael Palmerand, as you might have guessed, yours truly, with a comedy thriller entitled The Gato Conundrum. The last of this current crop of anthologies is THRILLERS: 100 MUST READS. This collection of essays is doubly exciting for me because I'm featured both as an author of one of the essays, on DEATH WISH, by Brian Garfield; and the subject of another essay by Carna Bodham, for my own book THE 13TH JUROR. See you next month. John Lescroart |
